The first quarter of 2017 has come to an end, but we haven’t been able to witness a huge hit as yet. As usual, the first quarter was a little slow, but we cannot discredit the ones that have done well. Many big films with superstars released during the first quarter and while we saw some stunning performances by Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar and Varun Dhawan, neither of them turned out to be blockbusters. However, the actors were able to rake in the money and contribute to the industry in a positive way. Check out the top 5 highest grossing actors during the first quarter of 2017 right here:
Shah Rukh Khan
Box office collection: Rs 137.51 crore
After Fan‘s debacle last year and the whole drama around the Raees–Kaabil clash, Shah Rukh Khan must now be breathing easy as Raees performed well at the box office. The movie was a good watch and people really liked SRK’s act. And even though the clash restricted the movie from setting some new records, Raees did collect Rs 137.51 crore at the box office in its lifetime run. With that, Shah Rukh became the highest grossing actor during the first quarter of 2017.
Box office collection: Rs 130.27 crore
Like SRK, Hrithik did not have a good run at the box office since a couple of years. However, he redeemed himself with Kaabil this year. Hrithik put up a stellar act and people liked the movie, so obviously the movie would perform well at the box office. It managed to rake in Rs 130.27 crore in its lifetime run, making Hrithik the second highest grossing actor during the first quarter of 2017.
Movie: Jolly LLB 2
Box office collection: Rs 116.92 crore
Akshay Kumar took the third spot, after yet another fantastic performance in Jolly LLB 2. Being the sequel to a popular movie along with a good story line and a stellar cast, the movie raked in Rs 116.92 crore in its lifetime run and cementing his place in the top 5 list.
Movie: Badrinath Ki Dulhania
Box office collection: Rs 107.69 crore
Varun Dhawan‘s Badrinath Ki Dulhania was a fun watch and being the second part of a popular franchise, the movie performed well at the box office. It raked in Rs 107.69 crore, making Varun the fourth highest grossing actor during the first quarter of 2017.
Box office collection: Rs 33.03 crore
In fifth place is Hugh Jackman, a complete surprise package. Even though Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur had big releases this quarter, they could not match up to this Hollywood star. Hugh Jackman’s Logan was the final part of the Wolverine franchise and with an interesting story line, the movie performed very well at the box office. He collected Rs 33.03 crore at the Indian box office, making him the fifth highest grossing actor during the first quarter of 2017
