Shah Rukh Khan has started to leave his own film behind by earning tremendous amount of money in just five days. Raees earns over Rs. 93 crore in first five days of its stay at the box office which means it has earned more than the lifetime collection of his earlier film as a solo hero, Fan. The latter released in 2016 and had earned Rs. 84.10 crore throughout its run at the box office. Raees needed just five days to earn much more than that. Let us tell you why we are comparing it with Fan.
First of all, Fan came to theatres alone without anyone clashing with it. Second, it released at nearly 3500 screens. That gives it a much bigger space to play on and make tremendous money. But unfortunately, despite seeing a good opening, the film slumped unbelievably. It even managed to put up fairly decent opening weekend collections but failed to pick up steam once the weekend was over. Now if we talk about Raees, the film came with Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil during the Republic Day weekend. HR’s fan following is pretty mighty. That makes him a really strong opponent for Shah Rukh Khan. Plus, it released at only 2900 screens. The only advantage that Raees had was it got a five day opening weekend which it cash in on brilliantly. Today, the film will even touch the Rs. 100 crore mark and is poised to earn more in the coming days.
What’s also commendable here is that SRK’s film received less favourable reviews than Kaabil. Clearly, it’s his fans who took it upon them to make it a huge hit, clash or no! Monday will be crucial to give an inkling as to what will be the lifetime collection of this film. So stay tuned to this space for more box office updates.
