Ae Dil Hai Mushkil continues to make money for its producers. From the moment the film released, it has been fetching the right numbers at the box office and is now one of the most successful films of 2016. It was expected to do numbers it did because it had everything working in its favour. Karan Johar’s way of presenting love and pain struck with the audience and thus now, it managed to achieve more than just 100 crore. By earning 110. 21 cr, it has managed to beat Akshay Kumar‘s Housefull 3 (Rs. 109. 14 cr).
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh revealed the figures saying, “#ADHM [Week 3] Fri 70 lacs, Sat 1.19 cr, Sun 1.51 cr, Mon 52 lacs, Tue 49 lacs, Wed 48 lacs, Thu 46 lacs. Total: ₹ 110.21 cr. India biz. HIT.” Yes, the collections have dropped majorly but despite new releases and the massive jolt in the form demonetisation, the film is still minting money which says a lot about it. Overseas too is going terrific for the film. Taran revealed the figures of the same saying, “#ADHM – OVERSEAS – Total after Week 3: Crosses $ 12 million [₹ 81.81 cr]. TERRIFIC.”
We already told you the number of records that this film has made. It saw the Second Highest Opening Collection in UAE after Sultan which is a huge deal. It had the highest overseas day one collection of 2016. It was also the highest opener and highest opening weekend internationally for Karan Johar for Karan Johar ever. It is also his highest opening weekend ever. It is also the highest opening weekend internationally for Ranbir Kapoor. And last but not the least, Highest international opening weekend for a Fawad Khan film. Now add to the list that it is now the one of the five top grossing films of this year and you know how big this film has become.
When PM Narendra Modi announced demonetisation, there were major concerns that it will affect the film. But Ae Dil Hai Mushkil couldn’t be less bothered. It continued to earn money and make its producers cash rich.
