Shah Rukh Khan’s dwarf act in Aanand Rai’s film to be brought about by optical illusion

We know that Shah Rukh Khan will play the role of a dwarf in Aanand L Rai’s next, which also features Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. We knew that it would not be prosthetics that would turn SRK into a dwarf, as the superstar had clarified it before. News now has it that SRK will make use of VFX to portray this challenging role.

A leading daily spilled the beans on the technology that will be used to bring about SRK’s dwarf effect. The daily had a source as saying, “The makers will not superimpose SRK’s face on a dwarf actor. They will shoot using Forced Perspective, a technique that employs optical illusion to make an object appear farther away, closer, larger or smaller than it actually is. It will make SRK look shorterwith the added effect of oversized costumes and shoes, that will add to the desired look.”

Well, what do you think of that?

Rai had recently spoken about the movie saying that though SRK plays a dwarf, there is more to the movie than that factor. He said, “I am at a point in life when I want to do something challenging. And, when you get an opportunity to work with actors like these, you don’t want to miss it. All three characters have a newness about them. The film is not a romcom or a pure love story. It’s about new-age relationships. I can’t talk about Katrina’s or Anushka’s characters. While everyone knows that SRK plays a dwarf, there’s a lot more to it than just that.”

Isn’t that interesting?

The Raanjhanaa director concluded by saying, “The film begins the way I love to start my stories, but the way it ends is a first for me. I’m nervous and excited at the same time.”
